Black Heritage Trail of [Portsmouth] New Hampshire
The 1775 census reported 656 enslaved Africans in New Hampshire, mostly in Portsmouth and adjacent towns. This trail follows a compact 23-site 1 ½ mile downtown version. There is also an extended version and a self-guided app.
